“Fire sweeps where carelessness creeps” – Anonymous

According to the BC Wildfire Service, about 40% of wildfires are human caused.   In addition to following current burning restrictions, you can prevent wildfires by ensuring your vehicle does not have parts that are dragging on the roadway.   Parts such as mufflers or chains can generate sparks that ignite dry vegetation along the side of the road.

FIRE DANGER REMAINS HIGH

The total fire ban was lifted for a very short period of time due to cooling temperatures and much needed rain.   With the return of hot, dry conditions, the total fire ban has been re-instated.  CSA or ULC approved propane appliances can still be used.

TIMED IRRIGATION

Our wells and pumps are experiencing a high level of stress when many sprinkler systems are in operation at one time. If you have a programmed timer for your sprinkler system,  please consider shifting your timer to avoid the sprinkler being on at 5:00am when demand for water is currently at its highest level.

Stage Two Water Restrictions Remain in Effect which means sprinkler watering of lawns is restricted to 3 hours a day between 10pm and 10am.

One drop per second from a leaky tap wastes about 10,000 litres a year.  That’s enough to fill 10 standard size hot tubs.
